Brucemore is endlessly adaptable! The organization invests a significant amount of effort in ensuring that experiences are top-notch both onsite and online. That’s why the schedule of events and projects evolves annually! Together, audiences meet new artists, watch a new docu-series online, learn a new story in the mansion, preserve a building, plant a new tree, and more.
In the last few years, even fundraising has adapted! These updated options might be helpful to you and your giving. As always, Brucemore continues to accept gifts online, by check, and by cash. But in recent years, we’ve added:
- Stock giving – skip impacting your cash flow, side-step capital gains tax, and still receive your tax deduction. Win, win!
- Donor-Advised Fund giving – simply recommend a grant directly to Brucemore from your existing DAF. If you are interested in setting up a DAF, the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation can help!
- Qualified Charitable Distribution giving – If you are 70.5 and older, you can make a gift directly from your traditional IRA that is 100% tax free. If you are 72+, this gift can also count toward your required minimum distribution!
- Planned giving – whether you’re 18 or 80, a will is the best way to make sure the people and causes you love are protected. Consider adding the nonprofits you care about as additional beneficiaries to your will, life insurance, or retirement accounts.
If you are interested in exploring one of these options, you can find specific instructions on either the Supporter Fund or Preservation Fund webpages.
Donations make a tangible difference to the lives of our neighbors near and far, starting right here at Brucemore. They carry forward the legacies of the Sinclair, Douglas, and Hall families by recognizing the importance of sustaining and celebrating this irreplaceable site.
