Cultural Leadership Partner Award Renewed for FY26

Brucemore is pleased to announce renewal of its Cultural Leadership Partner award for Fiscal Year 2026. Support for this program is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

The Iowa Arts Council defines Cultural Leadership Partners as organizations that “demonstrate an exemplary record of cultural and managerial excellence and community service.” Awardes must show “excellence in programming, leadership and cultural impact on a continuing basis to the citizens of Iowa; sound fiscal and managerial practices; and deliberate community outreach and involvement.”

Brucemore plans to use this investment to advance its strategic goal of strengthening a regional identity rooted in artist support. Funding will be used to compensate Iowa-based artists and technicians who contribute to both live and digital programs, including intimate performances, utilization of unique venues on the estate, and expanded digital content.

Direct financial support of individual artists is essential to the strength and sustainability of Iowa’s cultural economy. When artists and arts technicians are paid for their work, they are able to continue creating, collaborating, and investing their talents locally. Brucemore’s commitment to artist compensation not only honors creative labor but also contributes to a broader ecosystem in which artists can live and thrive in Iowa. By providing reliable income through performances, digital content, and mentorship and growth opportunities, this grant helps retain talent in the region, stimulates cultural tourism, and supports a diverse arts landscape.

In addition to artist fees, the grant will help cover production costs such as rentals, hospitality, and audience amenities—critical elements that ensure a professional and welcoming experience for both artists and attendees. The visibility of the Iowa Arts Council’s support for these efforts reinforces the value of public investment in the arts and its role in shaping a vibrant cultural identity for our region.

This investment drives both cultural and economic vitality by fostering innovation, strengthening communities, and building a strong identity for Iowa as a state that values and uplifts creative professionals. The Board of Trustees and staff are grateful for the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Iowa Arts Council, the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and the State of Iowa.
