Preserving
and Sharing
History for All
Brucemore inspires community interaction with history, preservation, and the arts. The 1880s mansion, six other historic structures, 26-acres of gardens and grounds, and tens of thousands of objects and archival documents serve as an irreplaceable foundation representing more than 130 years of history. Since 1981, more than one million people have visited the carefully preserved estate for community, cultural, and heritage programs.
Our vision is twofold:
- To expand the legacy of Brucemore’s families in making Iowa a better place to live, work, and visit.
- To model a balance of best practices in preservation and innovative use.
Are you passionate about history, preservation, or the arts? Get involved in supporting our mission and vision.

Jobs & Internships
Community Engagement & Food Distribution Coordinator
Brucemore is excited to work with the Iowa Community Corps AmeriCorps program and Feed Iowa First to host this 10 week position. Brucemore, with 7 historic structures and 26-acres of landscape, inspires community interaction with history, preservation, and the arts. This position will leverage Brucemore’s existing partnership with Feed Iowa First to utilize a vegetable garden and orchard to make an impact beyond the estate. The position will be responsible for maintaining a vegetable garden, harvesting fruit from the orchard, helping to engage volunteers, and collaborating with Feed Iowa First for produce distribution. Additionally, the position will work to increase the production of culturally relevant foods for immigrant and refugee communities and raise awareness of food justice through digital media initiatives.
The Iowa Community Corps AmeriCorps program helps build strong communities by responding to public health needs through food security and resource navigation efforts. As an Iowa Community Corps member, you will attend a program orientation and monthly training sessions, complete the Community Health Worker Professional Training Program, and submit monthly progress reports. A key aspect of the role is to develop a sustainability plan to ensure the continuation of capacity-building activities with this project at Brucemore beyond your term.
