Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring you a brand-new glass project! In this workshop, participants will design a sparkling glass garden bug, the perfect companion for your garden or potted plants. Using a warm glass technique, you will craft a one-of-a-kind critter – complete with wings, legs, and a friendly face.

This workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions and materials are provided during the workshop. All participants must wear close-toed shoes and clothing that covers their legs for safety. Following the workshop the instructor will take the finished projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kilns. Your creation will be ready for pick up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass studio approximately three weeks following the class date.

• Capacity is limited. Advanced registration is required.
• This workshop is recommended for children 8 and up, and must be comfortable working with glass pieces. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.

What to do when you arrive

• Please enter the property through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE., Cedar Rapids, IA 52403.
• Once on-site, please follow signs towards the Carriage House, where there is on-site parking.
• The Carriage House entrance is on the northwest side of the building.
• Please check-in for the workshop with Brucemore staff at the Carriage House.

Tips for your visit

• Please consider leaving bags or other larger personal items in your vehicle. A coat rack is available, but it is not monitored during the workshop.
• All ticket sales are final. Please read our ticket policy here.
• Visitors are encouraged to explore Brucemore during their visit. Take a walk around the grounds or check out our events calendar to see what tours are available.
