This series curated by the arts professionals behind Brucemore’s Artisan Studio gives you a chance to discover something new from talented local artists. You’ll be delighted and surprised by these unique events, showcasing the best of music, spoken word, theatre, and more created right here in Eastern Iowa. Event Dates
May 2 – Gerard Estella, EJ Swavv, and Jason Alberty
To kick off this series, Brucemore’s Artisan in Residence Gerard Estella will be joined by two veterans of the Brucemore stage, EJ Swavv and Jason Alberty, for a night of music and comedy. This performance is sure to entertain you with a blend of original writing and creative takes on familiar songs.
June 13 – Bury Me
Originally written and produced for Starlighters II Theatre, Bury Me is a is a modern re-telling of Antigone performed in American Sign Language. The story explores the relationship of estranged sisters Andi and Izzy as they grapple with loss and each other after their brother’s suicide. This production stars four ASL-fluent actors (Jeff Dahle, Gretchen Brown-Waech, Brenda Falgier, and Jasmin Headley) with four English speaking translators. The performance will be followed by a talk-back with the actors, director and professional ASL interpreter Jennifer Smith, and playwright Grant Freeman.

What to expect from these events:
- You are welcome to bring your own light snacks and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy in the performance venue. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.
- The only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. Please enter through this gate and use parking near the Carriage House.
- Doors to performance venue will open at 7:00 PM.
- Pets are not allowed, with the exception of service animals.
What to do when you arrive:
- Follow signage to open parking spaces near the Carriage House or on the grounds of Brucemore. Accessible parking will be available.
- Follow signs to enter the Carriage House on the north side.
- Check in with staff at the event entrance by providing the name on your order.
Preservation in Progress:
This year Brucemore is doing exciting preservation work to maintain several historic buildings. Due to this work, a portion of the Carriage House parking lot will be unavailable. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding during this time!
