From April 24 to 27 Brucemore hosted the spring meeting of directors of the 27 National Trust for Historic Preservation sites. During their visit, the site directors had the opportunity to tour Brucemore and learn about the estate’s history. Brucemore staff also worked with leaders of other organizations throughout Cedar Rapids to provide tours of the Paramount Theatre, the Grant Wood Art Studio, and Indian Creek Nature Center.
The visit culminated in a reception in the Brucemore great hall on the evening of April 26. This reception featured entertainment from Artisan in Residence Gerard Estella and other artists who have worked with the Artisan Studio at Brucemore: Lincoln Ginsberg, Jackson Green, Kelsey Madsen, Alicia Moneé, and Adam Witte. John Warner Smith, site director of The Shadows and 2019-2021 Louisiana Poet Laureate provided an impromptu poetry recitation with improvised accompaniment by Gerard Estella.
