Preparedness and Preventative Measures

Coronavirus Update

March 13th, 2020

Our staff are closely following the developments concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of our staff, volunteers, visitors, and community are our top priorities.

Brucemore will continue to follow recommendations from the City of Cedar Rapids, Linn County Public Health, the Iowa Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control. Currently, these organizations recommend everyone follow best-health guidelines including washing your hands and staying home if you feel sick. Public health authorities are not currently recommending any changes to business or leisure activities.

At this time, all Brucemore tours, events, programs, and meetings will be held as scheduled. We are committed to following the expert guidance of public health authorities and will shift as the situation dictates.

We have taken the following steps with wellness in mind:

  • Staff have reviewed and increased internal cleaning protocol, including the regular disinfecting of frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Hand sanitizer has been made available in the Visitor Center for staff and guests.
  • Signage has been displayed in staff and visitor spaces to emphasize CDC recommendations for personal, preventative measures.
  • Staff, volunteers, and ticket holders have been asked to stay home if any symptoms such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath are evident.

We encourage anyone who has symptoms or feels uncomfortable to stay home. If you need to reschedule tickets for a tour or program, call 319-362-7375.
