This series curated by the arts professionals behind Brucemore’s Artisan Studio is your chance to discover something new from talented local artists. You’ll be delighted and surprised by these unique events\, showcasing the best of music\, spoken word\, theatre\, and more created right here in Eastern Iowa. \nTo kick off this series\, Brucemore’s Artisan in Residence Gerard Estella will be joined by two veterans of the Brucemore stage\, EJ Swavv and Jason Alberty\, for a night of music and comedy. This performance is sure to entertain you with a blend of original writing and creative takes on familiar songs. \nLocation: Brucemore’s Carriage House \nEvent Time: 7:30 PM; doors open at 7:00 PM \nAdmission: \n\n$15 Adult\n$10 Student\nBrucemore supporters receive a $5 discount per ticket.\nA $4.00 processing fee is applied to all online and phone orders.\n\nWhat to expect from this event: \n\nYou are welcome to bring your own light snacks and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy in the performance venue. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.\nThe only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. The gate will be open by 7:00 PM.\nPets are not allowed\, with the exception of service animals.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive: \n\nFollow signage and staff directions to open parking spaces near the Carriage House or on the grounds of Brucemore. Accessible parking will be available.\n Follow signs to enter the Carriage House on the north side.\nCheck in with staff at the event entrance by providing the name on your order.\n\nPreservation in Progress: \nThis year Brucemore is doing exciting preservation work to maintain historic buildings. Due to this work\, a portion of the Carriage House parking lot will be unavailable. The film offers a deeply personal exploration of the lives of ordinary Iowans who grew up in the 1950s and 60s\, left the idyllic landscapes of small-town America\, and faced the realities of war in foreign lands. Through Glazier’s lens\, the film chronicles the veterans’ journeys\, from the turbulence of war to the challenges of reintegration upon returning home. It provides a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by a generation whose narratives have often been overshadowed by history. \nThis event will feature screenings of From Iowa and Back and a photo gallery exhibition featuring snapshots and artifacts from the Vietnam War era. Dionysus is larger than life and wears her emotions on her sleeve\, but she has her own secrets\, and seems to be trying to pry Athena’s out of her. A 2020 graduate of the University of Iowa’s English and Creative Writing program\, Brigid has had 15 productions produced at venues including Willow Creek Theatre\, Run of the Mill Theatre\, and Iowa City Community Theatre. She was named the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at Faith UCC in Iowa City for the 2022-2023 season\, which culminated in a one-person conceptual show\, Lazarus Alive. \nAbout the Collaboration \nArtists embark on a journey of growth and inspiration with Brucemore. SUMMARY:Art at Brucemore: Greek Key Terracotta Tile
DESCRIPTION:Embrace your creativity! \nBrucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring the final piece of of the tile series to Art at Brucemore! In this unique workshop\, you will receive a pre-made ceramic tile inspired by the terracotta Greek Key tiles that decorate the outside of the mansion! Paint and glaze the tile as you’d like\, connecting your personal masterpiece to the historic architecture of Brucemore. \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Visitor Center. All instructions and materials are provided during the workshop. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kiln. DESCRIPTION:TCR and Brucemore Present For Peter Pan on Her 70th Birthday.\nLive and Outdoors at Brucemore’s Peggy Boyle Whitworth Amphitheater. \nBy Sarah Ruhl \nIn this moving\, tender\, and very personal play from Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Sarah Ruhl\, the longing for immortality of Neverland confronts the inevitable passage of time.  \nWhen Ann thinks of her father\, she fondly remembers playing Peter Pan in her hometown theater in Iowa\, particularly when he used to bring her flowers after the show. Now\, 50 years later and from her father’s hospital room during his final moments\, Neverland calls again\, casting her and her siblings back to this faraway dreamscape.
