DESCRIPTION:Take a peek behind the curtain and witness music in the making at Brucemore’s Live from the Artisan Studio series. Enjoy acoustic performances from up and coming artists and hear about their work at Brucemore’s exclusive Artisan Studio. Bring your own snacks and drinks for a fun and relaxed evening of music. \nAbout the Talent – Scott DL \nScott was born and raised in the American Midwest but the music that caught his ear was from Britain. A lifetime in music has given him a chance to tour the United States and release six CDs of his own music. In 2009\, Scott was living in Florida working with Michael Jackson’s longtime producer/engineer\, Bruce Swedian. Bruce recorded and mixed three songs for one of Scott’s albums. In 2018\, Scott and his wife\, Lynne\, relocated to Britain and continued to record and release music. He saw electricity as a basic human right and battled Edison to make electricity affordable to everyone. He foresaw our modern world and in doing so\, invented the future. \nAbout Cavan Hallman  \nCavan Hallman’s plays have been performed at the National WWII Museum\, National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library\, Strawdog Theatre\, Donny’s Skybox\, The Artistic Home\, RhinoFest\, KAPOOT\, The Elm\, Seattle Fringe\, and Columbia College Chicago. His plays for young audiences have received over 15\,000 performances in elementary schools across the country for an audience of over 5 million students and teachers. He has performed Off-Broadway\, along with other roles in New York\, Chicago\, New Orleans\, and Cork\, Ireland\, where he presented his solo show Not Easily Forgotten. Cavan’s fiction has been featured in the Southern Writers’ Reading Series and the Cane River Reading Series\, and his theatrical essays have been featured in PerformInk. \nCavan is the founding Artistic Director for Mirrorbox Theatre\, currently in its third season as the only company in Iowa that exclusively presents contemporary plays in their Iowa premieres. Bring your own snacks and drinks for a fun and relaxed evening of music. \nAbout the Talent – Scott DL \nScott was born and raised in the American Midwest but the music that caught his ear was from Britain. A lifetime in music has given him a chance to tour the United States and release six CDs of his own music. In 2009\, Scott was living in Florida working with Michael Jackson’s longtime producer/engineer\, Bruce Swedian. Bruce recorded and mixed three songs for one of Scott’s albums. In 2018\, Scott and his wife\, Lynne\, relocated to Britain and continued to record and release music. Their original tunes run the gamut from bouncy and boozy to “dark…but with a wink”. Folks often enthusiastically ask the band after their first Vandello experience\, “What the heck do you CALL that?” They call it Gypsy-Speakeasy. The Vandello trio includes Meghan Adam (lead vocals\, cajon\, percussion\, kazoo)\, Jared Adam (Guitar\, vocals\, kazoo) and Darrick “Big D” Chadima” (upright bass\, vocals). While her degree is in theatre from the University of Northern Iowa\, she has been cast in a variety of roles\, but none as rewarding as songwriter. Through a mix of country\, folk\, and pop\, she is ready to share her voice and tell her musical story. \n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR VISIT \nSafety: People may choose to continue wearing a mask at any time and are expected be respectful of other people. All people are kindly encouraged to wear masks. DESCRIPTION:We didn’t get the chance to enjoy A Modern Salon in January\, but it’s not too late to kick off the year with SPT Theatre at Brucemore. The SPT founders – Janelle Lauer\, Jane Pini\, and Gerard Estella – will be joined by the band of Greg Kanz\, Jeremiah Murphy\, and Jim Coates and special guest Alex Schulte for an a jampacked evening of tunes. With this spinoff\, swap out your tux or eveningware attire for a picnic and your favorite beverage for a comfortable evening on the lawn. This event will be specially adapted with audience safety\, comfort and fun in mind. \nDATES:  \n\nApril 29\, 7:30 p.m. (Sold out)\nApril 30\, 7:30 p.m. (Sold out)\nMay 1\, 7:30 p.m. (Sold out)\nMay 2\, 7:30 p.m. – recently added!\n\nADMISSION:  \n\n$100 per “lawn square” for up to 4 people\nBrucemore members receive a discount – please “sign-in” using the link in the upper right corner or call (319) 362-7375.\n\n\n\n\n\nIMPORTANT DETAILS FOR YOUR VISIT: \n\nArrival: The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. The estate will open for parking and seating at 7:00 p.m. \n\n\nParking: The gate at 2160 Linden Drive SE will be open for on-site parking at 7:00 p.m. Signage will direct you to open spaces near the Visitor Center.  (Parking is not available on Dows Lane\, the dead-end road adjacent to Brucemore.)\n\n\nSeating: Please bring your own lawn chair for seating\, which will have designated squares for up to 4 people to allow physical distancing between groups. Seating will be on a first come basis.  \n\n\nFood and Beverages: We encourage you to bring a picnic and beverage of your choice (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy with the show. \n\n\nPerformance: This performance will last 90 minutes with a 20-minute intermission. \n\n\nSafety: We will continue adapting as needed to the pandemic. To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone\, patrons will be required to wear a face mask that covers the nose and mouth\, except when seated with your own group.
