SUMMARY:Art at Brucemore: Clay Peony Wall Hanging
DESCRIPTION:Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring you this brand-new clay project! In this workshop\, participants will create a beautiful\, one-of-a-kind clay peony. The workshop instructor will guide participants step-by-step through this delicate process. Learn how to use forms to pull\, shape\, and tease the clay into natural looking petals that layer gracefully on top of each other to form your flower. While this project takes patience and practice\, the result is well-worth the effort! \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions\, materials\, and tools are provided. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to be kiln-fired and finished with a professional glaze resulting in a vibrant\, perfect peony ready to hang on your wall. \nPlease register by May 27 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot! \nAdmission: $50.00/per project \nA $4 processing fee will be added to all online and phone orders. \nWhat to know before you go: \n\nWorkshop capacity is limited\, and workshops often sell out. Advanced registration is required.\nThis workshop is recommended for participants above the age of 12. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop.\nAll participants must wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that covers their legs for safety.\nThis workshop lasts approximately ninety minutes.\nProjects will be ready for pick-up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio approximately three weeks following the workshop date.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive: \n\nPlease enter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403.\nOnce onsite\, please follow signs towards the Carriage House\, where there is onsite parking available.\nCheck-in for the workshop with Brucemore staff at the Carriage House.\n\nTips for your visit: \n\n\n\nConsider leaving bags or other larger personal items in your vehicle. SUMMARY:Art at Brucemore: Glass Butterfly Garden Stake
DESCRIPTION:Brucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring a pop of color to your garden with this unique decoration! Using a warm glass technique. participants will pick the perfect glass pieces to design a beautiful butterfly complete with vibrant wings and curly antennas. \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions\, materials\, and protective eyewear are provided. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to be fired in their kilns. A metal stake will be added to the back of the projects to create a handmade piece of art that’s ready to display in gardens\, on patios\, or in an indoor planter! \nPlease register by July 15 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot! \nAdmission: $55.00/per project \nA $4 processing fee will be added to all online and phone orders. \nWhat to know before you go: \n\nWorkshop capacity is limited\, and workshops often sell out. Bring your lawn chair for an evening filled with live music\, delicious food\, and cold drinks in the beautiful setting of Brucemore’s front lawn. \nPlease see the bottom of this page for FAQs and important event information. \n\n\nEvent Date: August 1 \nEvent Time: 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM; gates open at 3:00 PM \nLocation: Brucemore’s First Avenue Lawn \nAdmission \n\n$25 in advance\n$30 at the gate\nChildren 12 and under receive free admission\nA $4.00 processing fee is applied to all online and phone orders.\n\nEvent FAQs\n\nWhere will the event take place? – The main stage will be on the First Avenue lawn.\nHow will seating work for this event? – All guests will need to bring their own blankets or chairs to enjoy the performance.\nCan I bring my pet? – Pets are not allowed at this event\, excluding service animals.\nWill food and drink be available during the event? – Food and alcoholic beverages will be available for sale during the event.\nCan I bring my own drinks to this event? – Outside food and drink is not allowed at this event. Vendors will be on-site to sell food and drink.\nWhere should I park? – Parking will not be available on the Brucemore property during this event due to the number of attendees expected. Guests may look for off-site parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. Handicap parking will be available beginning at 3:00 PM in the Bradley and Riley parking lot\, located next to Brucemore’s First Avenue gate at 2007 1st Ave SE. A golf cart shuttle will be available to help transport guests with limited mobility from the gates to the seating area. Guests should plan to walk a few blocks to the event depending on where they park.\nWhere do I enter the event? – The gates to the Brucemore property off First Avenue\, Linden Dr. SE\,  and Dows Lane will be open for pedestrians to enter or exit the property for the event.\nDo I need to reserve tickets? – Tickets are required to attend this event. They may be purchased in advance online\, over the phone\, or at select locations for $25 or at the gate for $30. Please check back soon for in-person ticket locations.\nWill the mansion be open during this event? – The mansion will be open for limited\, free self-guided tours during a portion of the event.\nWill this event be held during rain or inclement weather? – Safety of everyone involved will be a priority. The event may be adapted or canceled due to weather. This could include holding a portion of the event. Any changes will be communicated here and via social media.\nWill there be an ATM? – There will not be an ATM available at the event. The closest ATM is located at the 1st Avenue Hawkeye Convenience Store.\n\n\nTicket Policies: \nAll ticket sales are non-refundable.
