DESCRIPTION:This event is sold out. Please consider joining us for the next Live from the Artisan Studio event\, A Night of Victorian Horror. \nWhat do you get when you take two musicians from different musical communities and set them loose with some keys? A night that is as inspiring as it is entertaining. From soulful vintage piano melodies to modern synth compositions\, Shawndell Young and Dillon Rairdin each take the stage with their own unique sound. Enjoy a night out with two acts of vocal and instrumental music that showcase the vibrant talents of two of the area’s best keyboard artists. \nDillon Rairdin \nDillon is an Iowa-based composer with nearly a decade of experience composing for independent video games\, films\, television\, web series\, and stage plays. He recently produced and performed in Level Up Live and Themes of the Digital Age for Brucemore’s Music at the Big House series. He is a multi-instrumental instructor at School of Rock in Marion. \nSee a sneak peek of Dillon’s work in this recording from Music at the Big House: Level Up Live! \nShawndell Young \nAs a son of a Baptist Pastor\, Shawndell’s sound is deeply rooted in the black Gospel church. Shawndell’s experience spans from gospel to video game soundtracks\, classical compositions\, Jazz\, and inspirational RNB and pop music. Shawndell received formal pedagogical and music training at Elmhurst University earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s in music business\, sound recording\, and piano pedagogy. Shawndell is a freelance singer and songwriter\, and college professor of music as he pursues is Ph.D. in Education. \nSee a sneak peek of Shawndell’s work in this recording from Freedom in Song 2025! \nEvent Date: October 17 \nEvent Time: 7:30 PM \nEvent Location: Brucemore’s Carriage House \nAdmission: $15 for adults; $10 for students \nWhat to expect from this event: \n\nYou are welcome to bring your own light snacks and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy in the performance venue. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.\nThe only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. The gate will be open by 7:00 PM.\nPets are not allowed\, with the exception of service animals.\nSpace to wait indoors before doors open is not available. If you arrive onsite before 7:00 PM\, we encourage you to enjoy exploring the landscape before the event.\nIndoor seating will be provided.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive: \n\nFollow signage to open parking spaces near the Carriage House or on the grounds of Brucemore. Accessible parking will be available.\n Follow signs to enter the Carriage House on the north side.\nCheck in with staff at the event entrance by providing the name on your order.\n\nCarriage House Event Map \n\n\n\nPreservation in Progress: \nThis year Brucemore is doing exciting preservation work to maintain several historic buildings. Due to this work\, a portion of the Carriage House parking lot will be unavailable.
