Each program includes time for self-guided tours of the mansion\, an entertaining presentation from one of our public historians\, mocktails in the Tahitian Room\, and an activity tied to the evening’s theme. If you’re looking for a fun and casual way to learn something new while connecting with other history fans\, then this event is for you! \nInspired by our fall collections feature\, the November theme is Paws and Projectors!  \nCedar Rapids legend says that Brucemore’s Leo was related to MGM’s Jackie\, but is it true? We’ll explore this question and look at other Hollywood animals over drinks in the Tahitian Room. During your visit\, check out artefacts connected to the other animals who called Brucemore home. This will be one of your last chances to see the items before they go back into storage! Round out the evening by testing your knowledge of Brucemore and animal actors in a friendly trivia competition. \nThis event has limited capacity and can sell out. DESCRIPTION:The 26-acre landscape highlights a variety of experiences to enjoy throughout the year! Free and open to the public seven days a week for a majority of the year\, visiting the grounds offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in a historic country estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. This is your chance to explore all rooms in the mansion and get the answer to one of our most frequently asked questions: “what is behind that door?” \nTickets are only available for advance purchase on Brucemore’s website or over the phone. All children must be accompanied by an adult.\nTo accommodate ongoing preservation work on the estate\, the route for the Nooks and Crannies Tour may be adjusted.\nThis tour is approximately 90 minutes long.\nThe Nooks and Crannies Tour includes an outdoor portion that will continue in weather conditions including\, but not limited to\, cold temperatures\, light rain\, light snow\, or wind. In case of more inclement weather\, we will adjust most of the tour to occur indoors\, but there will still be outdoor travel to each location. We ask that participants please dress for the weather.\nNooks and Crannies Tours consist of substantial walking and standing. The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor\, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors.
