The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor\, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\nHours \n\n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm\nSaturday\, 10:30 am – 4:00 pm\nSunday\, 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. DESCRIPTION:Calling all curious minds looking for a unique night out!\nMansion Mixers are your chance to explore Brucemore after hours while diving into fascinating stories from history. Each program includes time for self-guided exploration of the mansion and the opportunity to enjoy an entertaining history presentation in the Tahitian Room! Your ticket includes a complimentary canned drink served from the mansion’s other quirky basement party space\, the Grizzly Bar. If you’re looking for a fun\, casual way to learn something new while connecting with other history fans\, then this event is for you! \nJune 25 – Tiki Talk\nIn the basement of Brucemore’s classic Queen Anne mansion is a surprising spot – a tiki bar! It isn’t just any tiki bar\, though\, this is the oldest known example of an in-home tiki bar in the country. So… why is there a tiki bar in this Iowa mansion’s basement and who put it there? What exactly is “tiki culture” and where did it come from? What does tiki culture mean today? Join us in our Tahitian Room tiki bar to catch an island vibe and discover the answers to these questions (and more!) at Mansion Mixer: Tiki Talk. \nDuring the social open house\, you are welcome to explore the mansion (which may come in handy for the evening’s group activity). Also\, make sure to find time to play some mid-century inspired lawn games\, like limbo and hula-hooping. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\nHours \n\n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm\n\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. SUMMARY:Art at Brucemore: Linocut Stamp-Making
DESCRIPTION:Brucemore is partnering with the Eastern Iowa Arts Academy to bring you a brand-new Art at Brucemore project! In this hands-on workshop\, participants will learn the basics of linocut stamp-making. This beginner friendly class will introduce simple carving and printing techniques while encouraging creativity and personal expression. \nDuring the workshop\, participants will create and carve two stamps. The first stamp will be your practice stamp; the instructor will provide participants with a small\, simple design and show you how to use tools to carve the design into a rubber stamp. Once you’ve mastered the process\, participants can design a monogram or choose a different pattern to carve their own personalized stamp. When the workshop is finished\, you’ll head home with two unique stamps to decorate your cards\, letters\, journals\, scrapbooks\, and other paper art! \nPlease register by June 24 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot! \nAdmission: $50.00/per project \nA $4 processing fee will be added to all online and phone orders. \nWhat to know before you go: \n\nWorkshop capacity is limited\, and workshops often sell out. Advanced registration is required.\nThis workshop is recommended for participants above the age of 12. The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor\, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors. The mansion does not have an elevator.  Please make the best decision for the accessibility of your party with this knowledge.\nThis tour covers the three main floors of the mansion and the Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar in the basement.\nThis tour is approximately 60 minutes long.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive \n\nEnter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE.\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403. Please do not use the exit gate on First Avenue to enter the site.\nOnce onsite\, follow signs towards the mansion.\nThere is on-site parking a short walk from the mansion entrance.\nIf you purchased tickets in advance\, please check in with staff at the mansion at the time on your ticket.
