DESCRIPTION:Work side-by-side with members of Brucemore’s Landscape team in the cutting garden to prep the space for winter during this volunteer opportunity! Volunteers will pick up and clear out pumpkin vines\, flowers\, and weeds from the garden. The best part? Any pumpkins you find while helping in the garden are yours to take home\, just in time for Halloween! During the break\, volunteers can enjoy cider\, coffee\, and other fall treats\, as well as pick up some expert advice from Brucemore staff on how to prepare your own garden spaces for winter. \nYou don’t need a green thumb to participate in this volunteer program at Brucemore\, everyone is welcome to join the Pumpkin Patch Pick Up! \nEvent Details: \n\nDate: Saturday\, October 18\nTime: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Short break from 11 – 11:20 AM\nCapacity: 15 participants\nRegister by: 4:00 PM 10/17/25\n\nThings to know about this service learning opportunity: \n\nBrucemore staff will provide all instructions and gardening equipment needed.\nThis volunteer opportunity is recommended for ages 10 and up.\nVolunteers who participate in this activity should be able to walk across uneven terrain and engage in physical activity such as walking\, standing\, kneeling\, bending\, and squatting for periods of time.\nVolunteers are required to wear closed-toed shoes during this activity.\n\nIf you have not volunteered with Brucemore yet in 2025\, please take a moment to complete our 2025 volunteer waiver by clicking here.

Please email us if you would like to be added to the waitlist.  \nThe Victorians were pretty creepy—with their black crepe and continual mourning and rippers and slashers and all. Join us for a evening of Victorian horror tales and morbid fright music with Lucy Conroy’s Cello of the Damned. We’ll dip into a couple of Poe stories with Aron Pozdol\, Braden Rood\, and Matthew James\, as well as some ripping tales from the London fog. \nEvent Date: October 17 (Sold Out) & 18 (Sold Out) \nEvent Time: 7:30 PM \nEvent Location: Brucemore’s Carriage House \nAdmission: $15 for adults; $10 for students \nSpace for this event is limited. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.  \n\nWhat to expect from this event: \n\nYou are welcome to bring your own light snacks and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy in the performance venue. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.\nThe only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. The gate will be open by 7:00 PM.\nPets are not allowed\, with the exception of service animals.\nSpace to wait indoors before doors open is not available. In this hit social deduction game\, you’ll enter a world where an evil presence is killing victims one by one. Work with other players to try to discover the demon before it’s too late\, but don’t be too trusting – in this game\, you never know who has something to hide. \nWhether you’re a seasoned player or new to the game\, this is the perfect way to spend a chilling\, unforgettable evening. Your experience will be set against the moody backdrop of the mansion after hours\, with live music to add to the ambience. Tickets include light snacks and beverages to help fuel your sleuthing. Come dressed to kill to make the most of this elegantly eerie evening of mystery\, strategy\, and suspense. \nEvent date: Friday\, October 24 \nEvent time: 6:30 PM to 10 PM | Doors open at 6:30 PM | Gameplay starts by 7:00 PM \nAdmission: \n\n$22 Player Admission\nBrucemore Supporters receive $5 off per ticket.\nA $4 processing fee will be added to all online and phone orders.\n\nCapacity for this event is limited and the event may sell out. Tickets may be purchased online\, over the phone\, or in-person at the mansion during open hours. \n About the Game: \nBlood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game of murder and mystery led by a Storyteller. Each player will be assigned a unique character and designated either good or evil. Good players share information to help solve the mystery\, while evil players lie to try to lead the group astray. The good team wins if they can work together to execute the demon. The evil team wins if the demon can wipe out the entire village. \nWhat to expect from this event: \n\nOur Storyteller will lead two groups of up to 15 players in up to three games of Blood on the Clock Tower. The number of games played will depend on how much time players spend on each game.\nGroups will alternate between Night phases where the demon will choose which players to kill and Day phases where players will share their knowledge to try to solve the mystery.\nDuring Night phases\, players will be seated in a circle. During Day phases\, players will be able to visit other rooms of the mansion while they have conversations about solving the mystery.\nPlayers will receive their character assignments as they arrive. Please arrive by 6:50 PM to ensure gameplay can start by 7:00 PM.\nThis game is designed to be enjoyed by adults\, but players 15 and up may participate.\n\nNavigating the site: \n\nThe entrance to the estate is on Linden Drive. Some GPS systems may try to take you to another gate. DESCRIPTION:The 26-acre landscape highlights a variety of experiences to enjoy throughout the year! Free and open to the public seven days a week for a majority of the year\, visiting the grounds offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in a historic country estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\nHours \n\n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\nSaturday\, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm\nSunday\, 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. Please carry out anything you bring onto the site.\nParking for vehicles is available on pavement near the Carriage House or Mansion.\nPublic restrooms are available in a building next to the Carriage House during hours with vehicle access seasonally.

Along the way\, you’ll see beautiful and bizarre interiors that showcase the popular styles of the first half of the 20th century. After your mansion tour\, enjoy exploring the 26-acre landscape at no additional cost. \nAdmission \n\n \n\n$12.00 Adults\n$7.00 Students (4+)\nFree (3 and under)\nBrucemore supporters receive a $5 discount per ticket.\nA $4.00 processing fee will be applied to all online and phone orders.\n\n \n\nTour Dates \n\nFebruary 21 to March 2\n\nFriday – Saturday\, 10:00 AM\, 11:00 AM\, 12:00 PM\, 1:00 PM\, 2:00 PM\, and 3:00 PM\nSunday\, 1:00 PM\, 2:00 PM\, and 3:00 PM\n\n\nMarch 5 to November 9\n\nWednesday – Saturday\, 10:00 AM\, 11:00 AM\, 12:00 PM\, 1:00 PM\, 2:00 PM\, and 3:00 PM\nSunday\, 1:00 PM\, 2:00 PM\, and 3:00 PM\n\n\n\n\nWhat to expect from this tour \n\nGuided mansion tours do not include access to buildings other than the mansion.\nTours of the mansion consist of substantial walking and standing. The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor\, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors. The mansion does not have an elevator.  Please make the best decision for the accessibility of your party with this knowledge.\nThis tour covers the three main floors of the mansion and the Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar in the basement.\nThis tour is approximately 45 minutes long.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive \n\nEnter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE.\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403. Please do not use the exit gate on First Avenue to enter the site.\nOnce onsite\, follow signs towards the mansion.\nThere is on-site parking a short walk from the mansion entrance.\nIf you purchased tickets in advance\, please check in with staff at the mansion at the time on your ticket. If you need to purchase a ticket\, you can do that at the mansion when you arrive.\nThe mansion entrance is on the south side of the building\, through the front door next to the circle drive.\n\nTips for your visit \n\nFor site navigation tips\, please watch this video. A labeled Google Map of the site is available here.\nPlease consider leaving bags or other large personal items in your vehicle. A coat rack is available\, but it is not monitored during tours.\nEarly admittance may not be available and there is not an indoor lobby to wait for the tour to begin. If you arrive onsite more than 10 minutes before a scheduled tour\, please enjoy exploring the grounds before entering the mansion.\nGuided mansion tours start promptly on the hour. If you miss your tour start time\, you may be subject to a shortened tour or asked to join another tour time that day\, subject to availability.\nFood and drink are not allowed inside the mansion during tours. We encourage you to enjoy a meal at one of Cedar Rapids’ local restaurants before or after your visit.\nAll ticket sales are non-refundable. Please read our ticket policy here.\nPhotography is allowed inside the mansion for personal\, non-professional use. Tripods\, selfie-sticks\, or other photography equipment are not permitted.
