Dionysus is larger than life and wears her emotions on her sleeve\, but she has her own secrets\, and seems to be trying to pry Athena’s out of her. She was named the inaugural Artist-in-Residence at Faith UCC in Iowa City for the 2022-2023 season\, which culminated in a one-person conceptual show\, Lazarus Alive. \nAbout the Collaboration \nArtists embark on a journey of growth and inspiration with Brucemore. Each year\, arts professionals handpick talented artists eager to expand their horizons. DESCRIPTION:The 26-acre landscape highlights a variety of experiences to enjoy throughout the year! Free and open to the public seven days a week for a majority of the year\, visiting the grounds offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in a historic country estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\nHours \n\n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. Please carry out anything you bring onto the site.\nParking for vehicles is available on pavement near the Carriage House or Mansion.\nPublic restrooms are available in a building next to the Carriage House during hours with vehicle access seasonally.

The mansion does not have an elevator.  Please make the best decision for the accessibility of your party with this knowledge.\nThis tour covers the three main floors of the mansion and the Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar in the basement.\nThis tour is approximately 45 minutes long.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive \n\nEnter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE.\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403. Please do not use the exit gate on First Avenue to enter the site.\nOnce onsite\, follow signs towards the mansion.\nThere is on-site parking a short walk from the mansion entrance.\nIf you purchased tickets in advance\, please check in with staff at the mansion at the time on your ticket. If you need to purchase a ticket\, you can do that at the mansion when you arrive.\nThe mansion entrance is on the south side of the building\, through the front door next to the circle drive.\n\nTips for your visit \n\nFor site navigation tips\, please watch this video. DESCRIPTION:March 28 – 30 | Film Screening and Photo Gallery\nBrucemore proudly announces a groundbreaking collaboration with filmmaker and photographer Jeremy Glazier on the powerful and evocative project\, From Iowa and Back: The Vietnam Era. This feature-length documentary sheds light on the untold stories of Iowans who served their country during the Vietnam era\, capturing their experiences with honesty\, respect\, and heartfelt authenticity. \nFrom Iowa and Back: The Vietnam Era represents years of community engagement\, collaboration\, and storytelling. The film offers a deeply personal exploration of the lives of ordinary Iowans who grew up in the 1950s and 60s\, left the idyllic landscapes of small-town America\, and faced the realities of war in foreign lands. Through Glazier’s lens\, the film chronicles the veterans’ journeys\, from the turbulence of war to the challenges of reintegration upon returning home. It provides a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by a generation whose narratives have often been overshadowed by history. \nThis event will feature screenings of From Iowa and Back and a photo gallery exhibition featuring snapshots and artifacts from the Vietnam War era.
