Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, discover the multi-stage geocache\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Check out the new History Ungated QR code tour by scanning the codes on signs throughout the estate! Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\n\nHours through September 3\, 2023:  \n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\nSaturday\, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm\nSunday\, 12:30 – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, discover the multi-stage geocache\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Check out the new History Ungated QR code tour by scanning the codes on signs throughout the estate! Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHours through September 3\, 2023:  \n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\nSaturday\, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm\nSunday\, 12:30 – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. A “Bowl of Plenty” is a common symbol found throughout homes built in the late 19th and early 20th century. A symbol of abundance and hospitality and typically filled with fruits and nuts\, you will find several Bowls of Plenty at Brucemore – in the mansion and around the estate. In this workshop\, participants will create their own Bowl of Plenty\, including what fills the bowl. Hand build your unique bowl and then decide what types of fruit\, nuts\, and foliage you want to mold and place inside your Bowl of Plenty! \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Visitor Center. All instructions and materials are provided during the workshop. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kiln. DESCRIPTION:Discover over a century of history at Brucemore during this 45-minute guided tour of the mansion. Follow an expert to hear stories about the history and collections of Brucemore and the families who called the mansion home. View the first\, second\, and third floors of the mansion\, as well as the infamous Brucemore basement Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar (which isn’t included on the self-guided tour!). When finished with your tour\, Brucemore welcomes you to explore the 26-acres of grounds and gardens on your own at no additional cost. \nTickets for guided tours of the mansion are available for advance sale on our website. Guests may also purchase tickets the day of their visit\, subject to availability. DESCRIPTION:The 26-acre landscape highlights a variety of experiences to enjoy throughout the year! Free and open to the public seven days a week for a majority of the year\, visiting the grounds offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in a historic country estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, discover the multi-stage geocache\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Check out the new History Ungated QR code tour by scanning the codes on signs throughout the estate! Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\n\nHours through September 3\, 2023:  \n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\nSaturday\, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm\nSunday\, 12:30 – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. DESCRIPTION:Brucemore will reopen for tours on Wednesday\, August 23 following a small fire incident on August 17. Please read this post for information about residual smoke odor in the mansion. \nDiscover over a century of Cedar Rapids history with this self-guided tour of the Brucemore mansion. Explore the first\, second\, and third floors of the mansion at your own pace while taking in the architecture\, artifacts\, and stories of the Douglas family\, who called Brucemore home from 1906-1937. Use the provided tour book with information to start your experience and read stories about what the spaces reflect or how they were used. Interact with hands-on opportunities and ask questions of the knowledgeable staff and volunteers. Head outside after your mansion tour and explore the 26-acres of grounds and gardens on your own at no additional cost. We recommend planning for 45 minutes indoors. \nTickets for guided tours of the mansion are available for advance sale on our website.
