This performance will feature songs from his album Holster Your Silver\, described as a “a heck of an enjoyable listen and a supremely well-crafted piece of Midwestern Americana” by Little Village Magazine. These gritty\, story-driven songs are a perfect listen for fans of John Prine\, Guy Clark\, and Bruce Springsteen. \nJohannesen previously worked with the Artisan Studio at Brucemore to craft a featured song for the documentary From Iowa and Back: The Vietnam Era. We are excited to share more of this talented Midwestern artist’s work during the latest event in our Live from the Artisan Studio series. \nAbout Live from the Artisan Studio at Brucemore \nThis series curated by the arts professionals behind Brucemore’s Artisan Studio gives you a chance to discover something new from talented local artists. You’ll be delighted and surprised by these unique events\, showcasing the best of music\, spoken word\, theatre\, and more created right here in Eastern Iowa. The gate will be open by 7:00 PM.\nPets are not allowed\, with the exception of service animals.\nSpace to wait indoors before doors open is not available. Featuring songs by Linda Ronstadt\, Carly Simon\, Carole King\, and more\, this relaxed\, feel-good night out delivers fresh takes on the iconic sounds of the 1970s. Get ready to groove to belt-worthy anthems and breezy ballads you know and love\, sung by an all-women ensemble in front of Brucemore’s beautiful mansion. \nSeventies Sirens is part of the Music at the Big House series\, presented by Brucemore’s Artisan Studio. This program aims to support Iowa-based singers\, songwriters\, and technicians in their personal and professional pursuits. \nPerformance Dates: July 17*\, 18*\, 19* – 7:30 PM \n*Sold Out \nTime: 7:30 PM; Gates open at 7:00 PM \nAdmission: \n\nAdult: $25\nStudent: $15\nBrucemore supporters receive a $5 discount per ticket. To use your discount\, please sign in using the link in the upper right corner of the purchase page or call (319) 362-7375.\nA $4.00 processing fee will be applied to all online and phone orders.\n\nHow does seating work? \n\nThis event takes place outdoors with most seating on concrete.\nChairs will be provided.\nSeating space is available on a first come basis\n\nThings to Know Before You Arrive: \n\nThis event takes place outdoors primarily on pavement and may continue in a light rain.\nThe site will open at 7:00 PM for parking and seating. The performance will begin at 7:30 PM\nThe only gate that will open to vehicles for on-site parking is at 2160 Linden Drive SE. Please arrive by 7:25 PM to park near the mansion. Late parking will be available\, but will require a slightly longer walk to the performance space.\nYou are welcome to bring your own snacks and beverages (beer and wine allowed) to enjoy at your seat beginning as early as 7:00 PM or throughout the show. Concessions will not be available for sale at this event.\nPets are not allowed\, with the exception of service animals.\nPlease watch this video for information about how to navigate your arrival to the event.\n\nWhat to Do When You Arrive: \n\nPlease enter through the gate at 2160 Linden Drive SE.\nFollow signage and staff directions to open parking spaces. Accessible parking will be available.\nCheck in with the staff member near the mansion circle drive by providing the name on your order.\n\nTicket Policies: \nAll ticket sales are non-refundable. Please read our ticket policy here. Online and phone orders are subject to a $4.00 processing fee per order. Tickets can be purchased at the event\, subject to availability. \nWeather Policies:  \nThe event occurs fully outdoors and may be held in light rain. If the event cannot be held due to weather\, a decision will be made by 5:00 PM  and posted on Brucemore’s website and social media. Ticket holders will be notified by phone. Along the way\, you’ll see beautiful and bizarre interiors that showcase the popular styles of the first half of the 20th century. The historic mansion is not currently wheelchair accessible. There are several stairs to access the first floor\, and several flights of stairs to see the other floors. The mansion does not have an elevator.  Please make the best decision for the accessibility of your party with this knowledge.\nThis tour covers the three main floors of the mansion and the Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar in the basement.\nThis tour is approximately 45 minutes long.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive \n\nEnter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE.\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403. Please do not use the exit gate on First Avenue to enter the site.\nOnce onsite\, follow signs towards the mansion.\nThere is on-site parking a short walk from the mansion entrance.\nIf you purchased tickets in advance\, please check in with staff at the mansion at the time on your ticket. If you need to purchase a ticket\, you can do that at the mansion when you arrive.\nThe mansion entrance is on the south side of the building\, through the front door next to the circle drive.\n\nTips for your visit \n\nFor site navigation tips\, please watch this video. A labeled Google Map of the site is available here.\nPlease consider leaving bags or other large personal items in your vehicle. A coat rack is available\, but it is not monitored during tours.\nEarly admittance may not be available and there is not an indoor lobby to wait for the tour to begin. If you arrive onsite more than 10 minutes before a scheduled tour\, please enjoy exploring the grounds before entering the mansion.\nGuided mansion tours start promptly on the hour. If you miss your tour start time\, you may be subject to a shortened tour or asked to join another tour time that day\, subject to availability.\nFood and drink are not allowed inside the mansion during tours. We encourage you to enjoy a meal at one of Cedar Rapids’ local restaurants before or after your visit.\nAll ticket sales are non-refundable. Free and open to the public seven days a week for a majority of the year\, visiting the grounds offers the perfect way to immerse yourself in a historic country estate in the heart of Cedar Rapids. Stroll through the gardens\, picnic on the lawn\, birdwatch on a woodland path near the pond\, examine the architecture of the mansion and servants’ village\, or take in the history of the site with interpretative panels scattered across the grounds. Don’t forget to take a selfie (or two) and tag us on social media! \n\n\n\nHours \n\n\n\nMonday – Friday\, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm\n\n\n\n\n*Hours are subject to change seasonally or for special events\, holidays\, and other occasions.  \n\n\n\nGuidelines for your visit\n\n\nWe love when furry friends come to visit Brucemore! Please help us keep the site clean and welcoming to everyone by keeping your animal on lead at all times and taking any waste with you.\nWe do not have any garbage cans on the grounds as part of our approach to remove distractions. Please carry out anything you bring onto the site.\nParking for vehicles is available on pavement near the Carriage House or Mansion.\nPublic restrooms are available in a building next to the Carriage House during hours with vehicle access seasonally.
