DESCRIPTION:This event has been canceled. \nEmbrace your wild side! \nBrucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring a wild workshop to Art at Brucemore\, just in time for Theatre Cedar Rapids’ production of Madagascar: A Musical Adventure at Brucemore! In this class\, you will sculpt a trinket bowl inspired by the characters of  Madagascar – a lion\, a zebra\, a hippo\, or a giraffe. These trinket bowls are good for holding all sorts of items\, including candy\, keys\, loose change\, or even a succulent. When you are finished with your project\, remember to “Move it\, move it!” over to Theatre Cedar Rapids’ website to purchase tickets to see Madagascar: A Musical Adventure\, showing at Brucemore from July 7-23\, 2023. \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions and materials are provided during the workshop. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio for firing in their kiln. DESCRIPTION:Brucemore will reopen for tours on Wednesday\, August 23 following a small fire incident on August 17. Please read this post for information about residual smoke odor in the mansion. \nDiscover over a century of history at Brucemore during this 45-minute guided tour of the mansion. Follow an expert to hear stories about the history and collections of Brucemore and the families who called the mansion home. View the first\, second\, and third floors of the mansion\, as well as the infamous Brucemore basement Tahitian Room and Grizzly Bar (which isn’t included on the self-guided tour!). When finished with your tour\, Brucemore welcomes you to explore the 26-acres of grounds and gardens on your own at no additional cost. \nTickets for guided tours of the mansion are available for advance sale on our website. After intermission\, Robert Lindsey-Nassif’s laugh-filled operatic love letter to one of Iowa’s most famous paintings\, American Gothical\, takes center stage.
