SUMMARY:Art at Brucemore: Double Glass Holiday Trees
DESCRIPTION:Embrace your holiday cheer! \nBrucemore is partnering with the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio to bring this popular workshop back to the Art at Brucemore series – but this year it’s double the trees\, so double the fun! \nParticipants will design a beautiful double glass tree decoration using warm glass techniques. Both trees will share a single wooden display stand\, so you can create a forest of sparkling holiday trees to brighten your home for the holidays. Projects include a wooden display stand. \nThis workshop is hosted in the Brucemore Carriage House. All instructions and materials\, as well as protective eyewear\, are provided during the workshop. Following the workshop\, the instructor will take the projects to the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass studio for firing in their kilns. Your creation will be ready for pick-up from the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio approximately three weeks following the class date\, just in time to decorate for the holidays! \nPlease register by December 3 at 5:00 PM to reserve your spot! \nAdmission: $55 per project \nWhat to know before you go: \n\nWorkshop capacity is limited\, and workshops often sell out. Advanced registration is required. \nRecommended for children ages 8 & up\, and comfortable working with glass pieces. All children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. \nAll participants should plan to wear closed-toed shoes and clothing that covers their legs for safety. \nThis workshop lasts approximately 60 minutes.\n\nWhat to do when you arrive: \n\nPlease enter through the gate at 2160 Linden Dr. SE.\, Cedar Rapids\, IA 52403.\nOnce onsite\, please follow signs towards the Carriage House\, where there is on-site parking.\nCheck-in with Brucemore staff at the Carriage House. \n\nTips for your visit: \n\nConsider leaving bags or other larger personal items in your vehicle. If you’re looking for a fun and casual way to learn something new while connecting with other history fans\, then this event is for you! \nTo celebrate the holidays\, our December theme is Twisted Tidings! \nThis holiday-themed Mansion Mixer uncovers the odd\, spooky\, and just plain weird ways Victorians celebrated the season. Sip on a festive mocktail while you learn about bizarre holiday cards and the lost tradition of Christmas ghost stories. As you explore the mansion\, search for Krampus figures hidden within the beautiful holiday décor. Your ticket includes snacks\, a mocktail\, and samples from Big Grove Brewery! \nThis event has limited capacity and can sell out. Guests are invited to don their best evening wear and a mask to hide their identities\,  just like the demons will be hiding their true intentions! \nWhether you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s Day date night or chance to play games with friends at Cedar Rapids’ most iconic historic house\, this is the perfect way to spend an unforgettable evening. Your experience will be set against the moody backdrop of the mansion after hours\, with live music to add to the ambience. Tickets include light appetizers\, a unique gaming experience\, and self-guided tour access to the mansion during cocktail hour. Canned soft and hard drinks will be available to purchase. \nAbout the Game: \nBlood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game of murder and mystery led by a Storyteller. Each player will be assigned a unique character and designated either good or evil. Good players share information to help solve the mystery\, while evil players lie to try to lead the group astray. The good team wins if they can work together to execute the demon.
