Historic Tree Tour

Red-Oak.jpgBrucemore and Trees Forever are partnering on a Historic Tree Tour of the 26-acre Brucemore estate.

Mark Vitosh, Iowa District Forester and Aaron Brewer, Trees Forever Field Coordinator, will join Brucemore’s Historic Landscape Manager David Morton. They will be teaching tree ID techniques as well as pointing out and discussing unique tree specimens on the estate.

Trees Forever is a 30-year-old environmental non-profit on a mission to plant and care for trees and the environment by empowering people, building community and promoting stewardship. We involve anaverage of 7,000 volunteers annually through our plantings and events.

Update: The tour is scheduled as planned. It will be held in a light rain; please dress for the weather.

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOUR VISIT

  • Arrival: We ask that you arrive via our main entrance, 2160 Linden Drive SE. There is on-site parking near our Visitor Center. 

  • Check-in: The tour begins at the Visitor Center. The Visitor Center will be open thirty minutes before the tour. Please do not arrive late as the tour departs this building shortly after the start time. 

  • Tour: This tour lasts 60 minutes and is fully outdoors. This tour involves walking off paved services.  

  • Explore: Visitors are encouraged to explore the estate. Stop by Brucemore’s free Visitor Center to learn more, enjoy exhibits about the families, and peruse Brucemore’s gift shop.  The Visitor Center is open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 12:30 to 3:15 p.m. on Sundays. The Visitor Center will open 30 minutes prior to the tour if scheduled outside of standard hours. 

  • Photography: Photography for souvenir purposes is welcome on the grounds, but is not allowed inside the mansion.

  • Coats and bags: We are unable to store personal possessions while you are on the tour. You may wish to consider leaving large bags or other items in your vehicle. 

  • Weather: The tour occurs exclusively outdoors and may occur outside in light rain. Please dress for the weather.
