Middle School Education A Home in History
Middle School Program

"A Home in History" looks at Brucemore as one example of a built environment. Students examine the mansion, its architecture, the landscape, outbuildings, and exhibitions. The program includes activities related to social studies, language arts, and fine arts. Primary source materials such as maps, photographs, letters, and diary entries allow students to approach the past through multiple points-of-view.

Students gain a better understanding of how the needs, interests, and activities of people effect the world around them. They compare how Brucemore has evolved over time and how evidence of these changes can be uncovered. Students also consider the importance of restoration and preservation in their communities.

Middle school groups are schedule for 120-minute visits.
